Overall Purpose of the Role

Zutari's Transport Unit, Transport Planning Section in Tshwane is seeking an Engineer who specialises in Traffic & Transport Engineering to join our Transportation Planning section.  This is a great opportunity in Tshwane for an engineering professional looking to move to a dynamic transportation planning environment with a diverse palette of projects.

Key Role Responsibilities

• Working with and supporting a team of experienced and specialist Traffic and Transport Engineers.
• Technical management of transport engineering projects, which range from small traffic impact assessments through major public transport planning, strategic transport plans (master plans), demand forecast and traffic modelling.
• A key requirement will be a strong traffic modelling capability, specifically with the modelling software packages of AIMSUN, VISSIM and VISUM.
• Providing primary client liaison in respect of some projects.
• Participation in the administration of projects in line with company requirements.
• Lead or assist with compiling tenders for any Transport Planning/Traffic Engineering related opportunities.
• Contributing to the professional development of junior team members.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng/BSc degree in Civil Engineering.  A postgraduate engineering qualification would be advantageous. 
• Professional Engineer registration with ECSA.
• Minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in Civil Engineering with a broader interest in Transportation planning and traffic engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects in the traffic and transport engineering environment.
• Demonstrated ability of developing traffic models in the last five years.
• Ability to develop and enhance client relationships.
• Ability to work in a team environment across a diverse range of projects.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Ability to function effectively in a high-pressure work environment.
• Must possess a valid South Africa driving license and be willing and able to travel, when required.
