Role Introduction

 

Our Global Design Centre (GDC) Water team is a specialized engineering design group with leading design engineers who are sought-after by international clients.  We are looking for engineers who are passionate about engineering design and being design specialists.

We are recruiting to support a key Australian client who has a growing water business. Specifically, the team is looking for engineers who wish to pursue a design-focused career in the water sector, for bulk conveyance and treatment infrastructure.

We are looking to individuals who have a strong engineering background in bulk water or wastewater infrastructure projects and have the drive to become leading technical specialists.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Manage resources and deliver design projects to a high quality within constrained timeframes.

  • Be responsible for the design of water and wastewater infrastructure systems (specifically including pump stations, pipelines and treatment facilities), with key contributions on 3D models, technical drawings and details.

  • Develop and grow personal and the team’s brand, and eminence, in the markets we operate in.

  • Be a team player that is willing to collaborate across multiple disciplines and international geographies.

  • Mentor staff and transfer engineering design skills to junior staff.

  • Perform complex engineering, designs, calculations, and analysis of water or wastewater infrastructure and systems.

  • Be responsible for producing other key deliverables on projects, such as technical reports, specifications, and procurement documentation.

  • Use of a variety of civil engineering analysis software and apply advanced skills with 3D engineering modelling software.

  • Confident, well-spoken, self-starter, disciplined, detail and deadline / delivery orientated.

  • Excellent communication skills (proven ability to interact well with personnel at all organisational levels)

  • Excellent organisational skills (ability to plan and implement) and time management skills.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • BSc/BEng. degree (Civil Engineering).

  • Professional registration (Pr. Eng. ECSA) or CPEng (Aust) with 5 - 8 years’ experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience on civil engineering projects with an emphasis on bulk water/wastewater infrastructure.

  • A sound working knowledge of engineering design software and analytical tools applicable to the envisaged role.

  • A sound understanding and working knowledge of BIM processes.

 

Advantageous Experience and Competencies

 

  • Capability in Autodesk suite of engineering software (e.g. Civil 3D, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks or InfraWorks).

  • Capability in using common data environments such as ACC/BIM360 or ProjectWise.

  • Capability in transient (surge) analysis of pipelines.

  • Capability in Computational Fluid Dynamics modelling
