We co-create engineering solutions that have a positive impact and improve people's lives. Zutari values inclusion and recognises the importance of a diverse, talented workforce, believing that people need other people to succeed.

We employ people with the right attitude and a positive mindset, who are motivated by doing the right thing, getting things done and share a sense of urgency. People who have an impact in our teams and broader community. People who think differently and connect with those around them to co-create new opportunities and leave a meaningful legacy.

Role overview

The BIM / CDE Technician provides hands‑on operational support to the BIM & Information Manager, CDE & Standards Manager, and BIM Coordinator on a large, multi‑disciplinary infrastructure project. The role focuses on routine CDE administration, intake checking, publishing support, register maintenance, and user support, ensuring that project information is accurate, compliant, traceable, and audit‑ready. The position is process‑driven and works strictly within delegated authority and established standards.

Role responsibilities

CDE Intake Checking & Publishing Support

  • Perform pre‑publication intake checks for documents and models prior to promotion within the CDE (e.g. Shared to Published), verifying:
    • naming conventions
    • folder/location accuracy
    • completion of required metadata
    • revision sequencing and dates
    • status/suitability codes
    • correct file formats (PDF, DWG, RVT, IFC, Navisworks formats)
  • Reject non‑compliant submissions with clear written reasons and re‑submission guidance
  • Track and report repeat non‑conformances
  • Execute controlled publish/promote steps in the CDE under delegated authority
  • Support archiving, superseded, and withdrawn information processes

Model Federation & Data Support

  • Prepare and maintain approved model federation sets (by package, zone, phase, or area)
  • Maintain a model inventory and federation change log
  • Perform basic non‑technical “sanity checks” (e.g. incorrect units, large coordinate shifts) and escalate issues to the BIM Coordinator
  • No model fixing, coordination, or clash resolution

Registers, Logs & Reporting

  • Maintain BIM and CDE‑related administrative registers, including:
    • information delivery tracking
    • submission and non‑conformance logs
    • clash log administration (tracking only)
    • issue/status registers
  • Produce weekly operational reports (volumes processed, rejected, turnaround times, recurring issues)

CDE Housekeeping & Bulk Tasks

  • Assist with approved bulk activities such as:
    • metadata updates
    • folder restructuring
    • archiving and close‑out routines
  • Conduct routine hygiene checks (misfiled data, duplicates, broken references) and raise corrective actions

Access, Onboarding & User Support

  • Administer CDE access requests (validation, approval routing, implementation)
  • Support onboarding of new users and organisations (navigation, uploads, metadata completion)
  • Provide first‑line CDE user support and maintain a support log
  • Apply confidentiality and controlled‑distribution practices appropriate to a secure infrastructure / airport environment
  • Escalate BIM technical issues and system/platform issues to the appropriate leads

Role Boundaries (Explicit)

  • Does not define BIM standards, workflows, or BEP requirements
  • Does not perform discipline‑level technical checks, model coordination, or clash resolution
  • Operates under direction of the BIM & Information Manager and CDE & Standards Manager, within delegated authority only

Minimum requirements

  • National Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent) in Built Environment, CAD/BIM, Information Management, IT or related field OR equivalent demonstrated project experience
  • 2–4 years’ experience in a BIM/CDE technician, document control, or information management support role
  • Experience on building and/or infrastructure projects
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one CDE/EDMS platform, such as:
    • Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360
    • Asite
    • SharePoint‑based CDEs
  • Practical understanding of CDE concepts:
    • information states (WIP, Shared, Published, Archive)
    • revision control
    • metadata and permissions
  • Ability to apply naming conventions and metadata accurately at volume
  • Working familiarity with BIM deliverables and formats for container management
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel‑based registers and tracking
  • High attention to detail and strong compliance mindset
  • Clear, concise written communication (rejection notes, instructions, reports)
  • Service‑oriented user support approach
  • Ability to manage repetitive, time‑critical tasks consistently
  • Confident escalation when issues fall outside delegated authority
