Minimum requirements

  • BEng/BSc/BTech or equivalent in Civil Engineering.  
  • A post-graduate qualification will be advantageous. 
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-training or Technologist-in-training with ECSA or proof of submission of application.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ post-graduate experience on civil engineering projects, with an emphasis on water infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite products.
  • Project Management and construction related experience in civil engineering projects, particularly in the water sector, will be advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge or expertise in 3D engineering design software applicable to the envisaged role (especially Autodesk suite) will be an advantage.
  • Thorough understanding of the basic hydraulic and the ability to effectively interpret the relevant design guidelines, codes and standards.
  • Effective communicator.

Skills, and characteristics (add if applicable)

  • Project Management and/or Design Coordination of water infrastructure projects.
  • Engineering design and calculations of pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs and associated infrastructure.
  • Hydraulic modelling and analysis (including water hammer) using Bentley WaterGEMS.

(Experience in WaterGEMS modelling is not a prerequisite; however, the candidate should have a thorough understanding of the basic hydraulic principles to effectively master the software and interpret the results.)

  • Co-ordinate and integrate the design with other engineering disciplines (i.e., structural, fire, mechanical and electrical) to produce accurate design deliverables.
  • Development of 3D models, technical drawings and details, as well as extraction of associated quantities, utilising the appropriate modelling/drafting software.
  • Interpretation and understanding of relevant project and technical specifications for appropriate referencing in design deliverables.
  • Interpretation and understanding of relevant design guidelines for appropriate usage to deliver sound engineering designs.
  • Produce other key deliverables on projects such as technical and project related reports, specifications and procurement documentation.
  • Be a team player that is willing to collaborate across multiple disciplines and across multiple geographies.
