Role responsibilities

The consultant will be part of the supervision team on site, in the provinces of Hula and Huambo and will be responsible to oversee the implementation of the Project Health & Safety Management plan as well as the Environmental and Social Management Plan.
  • Ensures hygiene and safety at work, ensuring compliance with current standards; promoting information and training for workers on prevention and safety methods and techniques; researching the causes of accidents and occupational diseases and proposing appropriate preventive or corrective measures; as well as ensuring compliance with the directives relating to the company's hygiene and safety policy.
  • Carries out visits to workplaces and facilities to detect risk situations, ensuring the application of regulatory provisions relating to safety and hygiene and monitoring the implementation of the proposed corrective measures.
  • Analyses opinions on the prevention of risks of accidents and occupational diseases in design and installation projects, namely in construction sites, buildings and machinery; it proposes or takes preventive measures with regard to the risks of accidents and occupational diseases.
  • Researches the determining causes of accidents that have occurred, identifying the real or probable causes and defining the necessary preventive measures to avoid their recurrence.
  • Pronounces or decides on the choice and acquisition, use or maintenance of collective or individual protective equipment intended to prevent accidents or occupational diseases.
  • Organises or promotes information, awareness-raising or training actions aimed at staff; to disseminate the safety and hygiene standards in force and to warn of the risks of accidents and occupational diseases.
  • Informs workers individually about the specific risks of their workplace and about the safety standards in force; writes periodic reports on hygiene and safety in the company.
  • Coordination of hygiene and safety on site
  • Follow-up on implementation of the site health and safety management plan
  • Follow up on the implementation of the site environmental and social management plan.
  • Health & Safety, Environmental and Social Supervisor.

Minimum requirements

  • 8 years experience as site inspector in health and safety and some experience in monitoring implementation of environment and social impacts management plans. 
  • Degree in occupational health and safety or Environmental Engineering
  •  Proven experience in the specialty H&S and E&S.
  •  knowledge of computers from a user's perspective.
  •  knowledge of occupational health and safety rules.
  • Organized and dynamic.
