Overview of the role:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Statutory Accountant to join our finance team. The Statutory Accountant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory reporting requirements, maintaining accurate financial records, and preparing financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Role responsibilities:

  • Preparing accurate and timely consolidated statutory financial statements
  • Manage and monitor the external audit process in South Africa and greater Africa & Middle East
  • Conduct regular reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement
  • Producing monthly statutory reports
  • Processing of monthly journals
  • Preparing reconciliations of accounts
  • Undertaking research, analysis and implementation of new international accounting standards
  • Assist with drafting and implementation of financial processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and decision-making processes

Minimum requirements:

  • BCom Accounting Honours as a minimum (recently qualified CA(SA) will be an added advantage)
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Completed SAICA articles
  • Preparation of annual financial statements
  • Understanding of audit processes and requirements
  • Knowledge of Draftworx will be added advantage
  • Experience working across Africa and/or the Middle East
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently
