Role overview

The BIM Detailer role is primarily aimed at the publishing of 2D graphical design deliverables and the upkeeping of the draughting or drawing office standards for models and drawings as specified in the project information production methods and procedures. 2D detailing and drawing production is typically a time-consuming exercise and the BIM detailers enable increased capacity with the BIM modellers by taking this activity off their hands.

Role responsibilities

• Effective communication of design intent on 2D sheets or layouts from design details, annotations and markups produced by the designer.
• Understand the scope and requirements for the deliverables, as well as the LOIN at each stage of project delivery to avoid over or under-delivering information.
• Prepare 2D design detailing and annotations that may include views, standard details, general notes, legends, sheets, layouts, and revision control.
• Follow the Zutari drawing office standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with the BIM modelers and proceed to further detail from their modelling work via the smart tagging of geometry and the scheduling of element data sheets.
• Use templates and configuration files provided and approved by the BIM coordinator.
• Accountable for 2D deliverable quality at point of publishing. 8. Responsible for coordinated 2D presentation on sheets and layouts, plan sheet/layouts according to the model’s federation strategy, scales, and sheet/layout sizes.
• Plan the sheet/layout strategies with the modeller and BIM coordinator to create a shared resource template for sheets and layouts.
• Understand the project’s BIM Execution Plan, MIDP, TIDP, and assist in maintaining dates when 2D deliverables needs to be shared or published.
• Adhere to the project information standard.

Minimum requirements

• 1 – 5 years industry experience in architecture, engineering, or construction.
• Multidisciplinary detailing skills desirable.
• Proficient in the use of either the Autodesk &/or Bentley suite.
• Has the ambition to develop into a BIM modeller.
